“A Studio Visit with Matthew Dear”
Matthew Dear has been on a relentless roll this year, having already released two singular tracks in the run-up to his upcoming full-length Beams (now available for pre-order). The tracks and the included B-Sides stand as a testament to Dear’s insatiable creative appetite and his prowess as a producer.
Our latest video, “A Studio Visit with Matthew Dear,” offers a cinematic glimpse into the artist’s Brooklyn home-studio. Presented in partnership with AIAIAI, the video is the first in a series of studio visits curated by the Danish company in support of their new TMA-1 Studio headphones.
Shot on location in Williamsburg, the black-and-white short features a potpourri of city and studio imagery as Dear narrates his first experiences with electronic-based music and becoming a performer. “Her Fantasy,” the celebratory lead single from Beams, serves as a suitably optimistic backing track for the video.
A hearty thank you to art director, videographer, and longtime Ghostly collaborator, Will Calcutt, who directed, shot, edited, and produced the piece.
